The South African Orphan Project, Inc. has officially been approved by the IRS for 501c3 status, and is now a registered charitable organization.
These images were taken while visiting the Tshwaraganang Community Development Project in the Spring of 2013 and the Fall of 2014 located in Hammanskraal, South Africa. There is no minimum amount required to donate, and every dollar counts. Nelson Mandela once said that, "The time is always right to do right," by giving what you can to our organization you can do right and make a difference in the lives of these children.
Currently, the Tshwaraganang Community Development Project focuses on children located at an orphanage in Hammanskraal, South Africa. Run and founded by Mrs. Catherine Sepato, this project provides: food, homework assistance, day care, recreational activities, clothing, counseling support groups and a place of safety for destitute, abandoned and neglected children.
Located at the University of Pretoria in South Africa, the Centre for Sexualities, AIDS & Gender was founded in 1999 by Mary Crewe, a former academic from Wits University who had worked for 10 years in an HIV/AIDS program in Johannesburg, South Africa.
As HIV/AIDS has become more prevalent in South African society, the Centre has worked with government and community organizations alike to address the stigma of the disease and the social consequences that it brings. The Centre has also collaborated with numerous international organizations on a range of policies and programs.
